Wine Identity & Packaging. An Exploration of Exposure & Fermentation

Context
FERMENT is a small-batch wine project conceptualised around patience and minimal intervention. Produced in limited quantities, each batch reflects the character of its origin and the quiet precision of its process. Batch 03 is a Spätburgunder from the southern Pfalz, grown on limestone soils and fermented with native yeasts. Aged in neutral oak and bottled unfiltered, the wine expresses delicate floral notes, wild blackberry and subtle herbal freshness. FERMENT is positioned for a contemporary audience that values authenticity, thoughtful production and understated aesthetics.
Concept
The core idea was to translate fermentation, a process shaped by time, stillness and exposure, into a visual system. Inspired by cyanotype printing, where light gradually reveals an image, the identity uses abstract botanical impressions as a metaphor for flavour development. Rather than illustrating grapes or traditional vineyard imagery, the label presents a restrained, atmospheric surface where form emerges subtly from deep indigo tones. The softness of the background contrasts with a structured typographic layout, creating balance between organic process and controlled craft. The project explores how production method can become brand language, turning fermentation into both narrative and visual identity.
